All role players, including principals of high/secondary schools as well as managers of community learning centres, must please note that:
All unclaimed certificates should be retrieved and returned to Head Office after a period of twelve (12) months from when they were received by the centres. Certificates of the November 2014 examination distributed during 2015 must be returned to Head Office by 30 June 2016. This process must be repeated each year. |

Unclaimed certificates will be stored by Head Office for a period of three (3) years in a secured area for possible collection by the candidate, after which they will be destroyed. |

The relevant role players must also comply with the regulations, policies and Umalusi Directives pertaining to the following:
- Unclaimed certificates must be collected from distribution points one (1) year after their release.
- Certificates must be treated as highly valuable and stored under secure conditions at all times.
- Candidates must be informed when certificates are ready for collection and the distribution must happen under secure conditions.

Schools are requested to return unclaimed certificates for the attention of Mr Zane Isaacs at the Directorate: Examinations, 5th Floor, Room 502, Grand Central Building, Cape Town, 8001. |

Attached please find a clearance certificate, to be completed by schools to confirm that all certificates for the years indicated have been removed and returned to Head Office. |
