1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will be hosting a Grade 6 Multilingual Creative Writing Competition in Term 1 of 2016.

2. The purpose of the competition is to strengthen Creative Writing which forms part of the WCED Language Strategy, 2015-2019.

3. Schools must note that marks for the creative written pieces from the competition may be used towards the first Formal Assessment Task (FAT) of Term 1.

5. The competition will be conducted in the Home Language of learners.

6. The final written pieces will be published in a multilingual story book titled 'From the pen of the learner'.

7. To this end workshops have been held with district subject advisers and lead teachers with the view to support the selection of essays at different levels of competition.
