INTERVENTION PLAN TO IMPROVE THE RESULTS IN MATHEMATICS, HOME LANGUAGE AND FIRST ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE FOR GRADES 8 AND 9 IN 2015


1. This minute is to be read in conjunction with Curriculum GET Minute: DCG 0006/2015 issued to schools on the 28 April 2015.
2. The Western Cape Education Department acknowledges that the specified dates for the Common Examination for Language and Mathematics to be written by high schools may be a challenge due to the pre-set dates set by schools.
3. In order to accommodate all schools, please be advised that the decision to write the Common Examination is not compulsory, however it is highly recommended. Schools which find the pre-set dates a challenge may revert to the dates set by the school provided that the credibility and confidentiality of the Languages and Mathematics Examination is maintained.
4. Schools interested in writing the Common Examination Papers should complete Annexure A of GET Minute: DCG 0006/2015.
5. Principals are requested to bring this minute to the attention of all Senior Phase Language and Mathematics teachers.
