The 25th of May is commemorated annually throughout South Africa as "Africa Day". |

The purpose of commemorating Africa Day is to celebrate African unity and the independence of African countries from colonial powers. |

This commemoration will provide an opportunity to raise awareness and gain a common understanding of different cultures at schools, while addressing the root causes of xenophobic attacks within communities. |

Principals and teachers are requested to find a suitable time during the week preceding Africa Day to make learners aware of the significance of this day for all citizens. |

The following attachments have been included:
- An Annexure to assist with activities for this day;
- Copies of the African Union (AU) Anthem;
