| FOLKLORE EXEMPLAR QUESTION PAPER FOR GRADE 12 NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC) NOVEMBER 2015 EXAMINATIONS |

From 2015, Folklore will form part of Section B in Paper 2 for African Home Languages in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination. |

In Paper 2 there will be a choice of answering either the NOVEL or FOLKLORE component in Section B, worth 25 marks in total. |

This implies that the Folklore genre is optional. Candidates offering African Home Languages may opt to study the Folklore or the novel during the course of the academic year. |

Accompanying this minute is a Folklore exemplar question paper, for African Home Languages Paper 2 for Grade 12, in preparation for the NSC 2015 examination. |

Also attached to this minute is the list of prescribed Folk Narratives and Folk Poetry Titles for Study in Grade 12 for all African Home Languages in ordinary public and independent schools from 2015 onwards. |

This exemplar question paper will assist schools on how to assess and integrate folk songs, idioms, proverbs and riddles with the folk narratives and folk poetry. |
