| DISSEMINATION OF THE 2015 GRADES 7 AND 8 ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSESSMENTS EXEMPLAR TESTS AND MEMORANDA |

The Annual National Assessments (ANA) are scheduled to be written by Grades 1 to 9 learners from 15 to 18 September 2015 by all public ordinary schools, state subsidised independent schools and certain special schools. |

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has produced 2015 Grades 7 and 8 exemplar tests and memoranda that are aligned to the Curriculum and Assessment Policy (CAPS) for English Home Language, English First Additional Language, Afrikaans Home Language and Mathematics. |

The range of exemplars in each subject also reflects the scope of subject content that must be covered for the 2015 ANA. |

To access the grades 7 and 8 exemplar tests and memoranda on the website, go to
http://www.wcedcurriculum.westerncape.gov.za/ and
click on "Assessment Management",
select "GET Assessment" from the drop-down list,
click on "Annual National Assessments",
click on "Annual National Assessments 2015", and then
click on "ANA 2015 Exemplars". |

The Grades 7 and 8 exemplar tests and memoranda are also available on the Department of Basic Education website (www.education.gov.za). Go to Assessment, "ANAs", "2015 ANA Exemplars". |

Senior curriculum planners and curriculum advisers are expected to assist teachers to use the exemplar questions to develop their learners’ confidence for the writing of the ANA. |

Principals are kindly requested to bring the content of this minute to the attention of the Grade 7 and 8 Language and Mathematics teachers and the Subject Heads concerned. |
