1. Schools are reminded of the due date for the completion of the online School Improvement Plan by 31 January 2014. The 2013 data will constitute the report of the school for that year.

2. The date for the conclusion of the targets for Language for Grade 3 will be extended to allow schools ten school days after the results have been received.

3. In 2014, schools will again be asked to complete the SIP Action Plans and the general indicators by mid-November, or sooner, in order to ensure good planning for 2015.

4. There will again be quarterly School Improvement Monitoring (SIM) of the School Improvement Plans this year.

The following focus areas will be monitored:

  • Progress on the SIP
  • Workbooks
  • Textbooks
  • Grades 1 and 9 pass rates
  • Management (meetings with parents; planned teaching and support; the pace of curriculum delivery; data management; attendance management; appointments)
  • Desks and chairs
  • Infrastructure
  • Financial management
5. The SIM is to be completed by both the school and officials each term as follows:

Period Due Date
Term 1 Monday 24 March
Term 2 Friday 20 June
Term 3 Friday 26 September
Term 4 (two dates) Friday 31 October AND Friday 28 November

6. In order to facilitate monitoring, the following procedure will be followed:
6.1 The monitoring focuses (see attached sheet) will be supplied for each quarter in a minute.
6.2 These monitoring focus items will be provided for sign-off on the CEMIS under "ADMINISTRATION".
6.3 The principal will capture responses online.
6.4 The IMG managers will make an appointment to discuss the responses and the completed sheet will be signed by both parties.
6.5 The principal will sign off on the CEMIS.
6.6 One hard copy will be retained by the IMG Manager for auditing purposes. A second one should be kept at the school.
6.7 The IMG manager will sign off on Eduinfosearch.

7. Any queries will be dealt with by the IMG manager.
