1. Introduction
1.1 The Annual National Assessment (ANA) will be written from 16 - 19 September 2014. The distribution of the ANA material will commence on 01 September until 10 September 2014.
1.2 Schools who have not received the ANA by 11 September 2014 must contact Ms B Calvert at 021 467 2994.
1.3 The principal is responsible for handing over the correct test to the teachers.

2. Storage of the ANA test material
2.1 The tests must be stored in a strongroom/safe that is accessible only to the principal. The stored tests must be arranged in the chronological order of writing, to ensure that each test will be written on the correct day. The tests must only be removed from the safe an hour prior to the commencement time.
2.2 Principals must ensure that the safes or strongrooms are cleaned from all unnecessary documents and equipment by no later than 29 August 2014 to create enough space for the storage of the ANA tests. The attached Clearance Certificate (Annexure A) must be completed in this regard and then faxed (021 467 2882 or 021 461 5628) for the attention of Ms B Calvert.

3. Provisioning of principal’s personal details
3.1 In ensuring the credibility of the examination results and also not to compromise the examination, the security around the ANA tests is of utmost importance.
3.2 Principals will be held accountable for ensuring that the examination processes and procedures pertaining to the management of the ANA are conducted effectively and according to the regulations for the conduct, administration and management of examinations.
3.3 In order for the Western Cape Education Department to keep all communications open between the Department and principals and to ensure that the ANA test material is delivered correctly to the schools, principals are requested to provide the Department with their cellphone numbers. Please complete Annexure B for this purpose and fax it to 021 467 2882 or 021 461 5628 for the attention of Ms B Calvert before 29 August 2014.
3.4 The receiving of the ANA test material is the sole responsibility of the principal. The principal can only delegate this function to a senior official if the principal has a child who is writing the ANA. All delegation must be in writing and must also be submitted to the District Assessment Co-ordinators.
