The Western Cape Education Department is committed to ensuring that all learners are kept informed about all sources of information that would assist them to make informed decisions. |
2. |
The Department of Higher Education and Training, in collaboration with the South African Qualifications Authority and supported by the Department of Basic Education, has produced a booklet for Grade 12 learners, entitled "Apply Now!".
|
3. |
The booklet provides information on post-school studies and the relevant registration procedures. It supports the topic, "Career and Career Choices", in the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for Life Orientation. |
4. |
The Apply Now! campaign booklets will be delivered to all ordinary public high schools to encourage Grade 12 learners to apply timeously for admission at post-school institutions. |
5. |
The Apply Now! campaign is part of the National Career Development Services (CDS) which includes the following key elements:
- Career Advice Helpline;
- Khetha radio programmes;
- Training and Support Services; and
- Career events, exhibitions and the annual Mandela Day Career Guidance Festival.
|
6. |
It is important that high school learners are made aware of available career choices and the importance of applying for their preferred post-school qualification. |
7. |
Principals are requested to bring the content of this minute to the attention of all Life Orientation teachers, members of staff and school governing bodies. |
