Demand for admission to Western Cape Education Department (WCED) schools has increased considerably and, in order to keep WCED officials informed as to which schools have spaces available for admission, the WCED has created an online database on EduInfoSearch to provide departmental officials with regularly updated information on spaces available at each of its schools. |

To assist the WCED to maintain this database, the following interim procedure will apply: |

School principals must regularly inform their IMG manager of the number of spaces available for admission to their school for 2014. |
| 2.2 |
This information will be captured and updated at the education district office by the administrative staff in each circuit team, and maintained by the IMG manager on EduInfoSearch. |
| 3. |
It is the intention that admission data will, in future, be captured at school level so that, when asked, WCED officials will be able to inform members of the public as to which schools still have spaces available. This will assist in ensuring effectively managed school enrolments. |

The information, once captured, should take some pressure off schools as officials will be able to see which schools have finalised their admissions. |

All schools are required to submit this information, even if it is a nil response. Schools that still have vacancies are requested to keep the district office regularly updated with regard to the number of spaces still available. |

Principals are required to ensure that accurate data is submitted and that all available spaces are accounted for. Given the demand for spaces at schools, it is critical that principals ensure that the information is up to date and that the IMG manager is kept informed as to the availability of admission spaces at schools. |

The system will be available for capturing of this information on EduInfoSearch by district administrative staff as from 2 September 2013. Many schools have already submitted this information to their district offices and therefore only need to provide an update. |

Please note that all schools are required to submit their initial admission spaces information to district offices by 9 September 2013, followed by regular weekly updates until all available spaces have been filled. |

It is the intention that all the information should be captured and available to WCED officials on EduInfoSearch by Thursday, 12 September 2013 |
