In 2013, schools were requested to use the national catalogue in order to order core readers to support literature study in Grades 7 to 9. In order to avoid confusion, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) did not issue a 2014 list of recommended books for Literature Study in Grades 7 to 9. |

For 2014, the 2013 list of recommended books for Grades 7 to 9 Literature Study may be used. The 2015 list should be issued by July 2014. |

Schools are encouraged to make use of the core readers provided by WCED for Literature Study. This will reduce the need to purchase new books. |
