1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is offering lessons which are broadcast via the interactive Telematics platform (lessons beamed via satellite technology) during February-March 2013 for the current Grade 12 learners and candidates writing the supplementary National Senior Certificate examinations (NSC). The broadcasts commences on 17 February and ends on 28 March 2013. Lessons will be broadcast live by experienced Grade 12 teachers to 145 selected schools in the eight education districts of the Western Cape from 15:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 14:00 to 18:00 on Sundays.

2. The NSC subjects to be offered are the following:

  • Mathematics
  • Physical Sciences
  • Accounting
  • Geography
  • Life Sciences
  • English HL
  • Afrikaans HL
3. The attached Annexure A provides the timetable of lessons.

4. Candidates writing the supplementary examinations may attend the broadcasts at a Telematics equipped school nearest to their place of residence. (See Annexure B for the location of these schools.) These candidates are requested to bring the relevant question paper(s) they wrote in October-November 2012 and their own stationery to the lessons.

5. Candidates who do not have access to any school listed in Annexure B can purchase support lessons on DVDs at a nominal price from the WCED by calling EDUMEDIA at 021 6899536.

6. Principals of Telematics equipped schools are requested to ensure that all Grade 12 learners offering the listed subjects attend these broadcasts.

7. Principals of non-Telematics schools are requested to encourage and assist candidates writing the supplementary examination to take advantage of this opportunity.
