1. The Annual National Assessment (ANA's) will be written from 10 to 13 September 2013, as stipulated in Assessment Management Minute 17 of 2013.
2. Prior to the commencement of the testing schools must ensure that all learners are registered correctly on the Centralised Education Management Information System (CEMIS).
3. As indicated in the above-mentioned minute, schools are responsible for the internal marking and moderation of all Grades 1 to 6 and 9 ANA's.
4. The mark sheets for the ANA's will not be supplied to schools. Instead, schools will be required to print these mark sheets from the CEMIS. A Language and Mathematics mark sheet for each class in the relevant grades must be printed before 6 September 2013. Any difficulties encountered with the printing must be reported to the district's assessment coordinator.
5. After moderation at school, teachers must manually record the learner's marks for the tests on the printed mark sheets. Once all the learners' marks are recorded according to class, grade and subject, the marks must be verified as correct and signed off on the mark sheet by the grade head and principal.
6. The principal must employ a data capturer to capture on the CEMIS all verified ANA marks from the completed mark sheets. The mark capturing function can be accessed on the CEMIS under "Assessments".
7. The ANA data capturer will be remunerated according to the national norm of 2000 marks per day. Details on the number of marks to be captured per school and the amount to be paid to the data capturer will be displayed on the CEMIS. The school principal may pay the data capturer from school funds, and the WCED will then reimburse the school according to the prescribed tariff indicated on the CEMIS.
8. Electronic capturing of the marks must be completed between 10 and 30 September 2013, and school principals must electronically sign off all captured mark sheets on the CEMIS before the provincial results are uploaded to the national database on 2 October 2013.
9. The original mark sheets for Grades 3, 6 and 9 must be submitted with the sampled scripts to the centralised marking centre. The school is required to keep copies of all the signed mark sheets, which will be required by the district office.
10. Please bring the content of this minute to the attention of all concerned.
