1. The annual SNAP Survey of ordinary public schools is one of the most important sources of information about the situation at schools. The information collected will contribute to the Education Management Information System of the province and will be used in the administration and governance of schools, including the supply of resources to schools, particularly staff.

2. The SNAP survey for ordinary public schools must be completed on 29 January 2013.

3. Shools must complete the survey online on the CEMIS or i-SAMS. This requires the principal to ensure that:

  • all learners registered and attending school for 2013 appear in their correct grade and class on the CEMIS or iSAMS;
  • any learner who has not arrived by the 29 January 2013 to take up enrolment at your school must be deregistered, as required by the learner attendance policy (The learner can then be re-registered if he or she arrives after the 29 January 2013.);
  • the capture screens that report the number of staff at the school are populated accurately;
  • the Infrastructure capture screen is included in the survey and completed accurately; and
  • the sign-off section of the survey is completed correctly and timeously.
4. Learner registration for the 2013 ANAs is required at the beginning of March 2013. Principals must ensure that the Language subjects and the language of learning and teaching are correctly captured for each learner.

5. The SNAP survey data must be signed off by the school’s IMG manager or circuit team manager.

6. Reminder: The subjects taken by all Grade 12 learners must be checked for correctness by the end of January 2013. The subject change request facility for Grade 12 learners will be available only until the end of January 2013.
