WCED Minute

1.	The procedure for the handling of requests for access to information in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), 2000 (Act 2 of 2000) in the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) was explained in Knowledge Management Minute 0001/2010 dated 5 May 2010.

The Director-General of the Western Cape Provincial Government, has, as Information Officer and in terms of Section 1 of PAIA, delegated all powers and duties conferred and imposed upon him in terms of Section 17(3) of the PAIA, to the following WCED Deputy Information Officers (DIOs):

3.	Role of DIOs in providing information

3.1	DIOs are mandated to make decisions, in terms of PAIA, regarding information requests.

3.2	The enclosed official application form (form A) must be completed by the requester and the relevant DIO, and then filed on the relevant office’s official file for record and reporting purposes once the matter has been dealt with.

3.3	The fees contained in Annexure A may be charged for the various categories of access to information.

4.	All WCED officials are kindly requested to give their full co-operation in ensuring that requests for access to information are dealt with timeously.

5.	Please regard Knowledge Management Minute 0001/2010, dated 5 May 2010, as amended accordingly.

6.	Kindly bring the content of this minute to the attention of all staff under your supervision.
