1. |
Owing to a court interdict, the English version of the Grade 11 Accounting textbooks did not appear in the 2013 National Catalogue. |
2. |
There is, therefore, a possibility that these textbooks will not be procured in time to reach schools before they open in January 2013. |
3. |
This delay in procuring the English Accounting textbooks must not be allowed to affect teaching in Accounting classrooms. |
4. |
Should schools open in January 2013 without Grade 11 English Accounting textbooks, they must continue using the current Grade 11 English Accounting textbook. Although this current textbook is not aligned with CAPS, it covers most of the CAPS content and the differences between the current curriculum and CAPS are negligible. However, teachers should note that the module on reconciliation, which is dealt with during the first three weeks of the first term, includes a small section, viz. Creditors’ Reconciliation, which is currently not dealt with in Grade 11. |
5. |
The national Department of Basic Education has, therefore, undertaken to provide provinces with resource material on Creditors’ Reconciliation, and the WCED will print and distribute it to schools before they close in December 2012. This material can then be used should schools open in January 2013 without the CAPS Grade 11 Accounting textbook in English. |
6. |
Principals are kindly requested to bring the content of this minute to the attention of all Accounting teachers and ensure that the teaching of Accounting in Grade 11 is not affected by any delay in the delivery of the Accounting textbooks. |
