Schools were informed, through Assessment Management Minute 0005/2012, of the test exemplars in Language and Mathematics for the Annual National Assessments (ANA) which were released by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) for the Intermediate Phase. |

The DBE conducted a qualitative analysis of learners' responses to the ANA of 2011 to identify areas of weakness. The analysis provides evidence to assist appropriate interventions for teaching and learning, as well as curriculum management by school management teams.
