The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) thanks all officials at schools and district offices for their tremendous effort in managing, conducting and marking the Annual National Assessments (ANA). |

The Department of Basic Education has requested the WCED to ensure that all parents of learners in Grades 1 to 6 and Grade 9 are provided with a report on their child's performance in the 2012 ANA. The mark allocated by the school, as per the duplicate mark sheet, must be used to report to parents. |

Principals are requested to ensure that the learner report, which will be available on the CEMIS/iSAMS by 15 October 2012, is completed for each learner who wrote the ANA. This report must be sent to parents by 26 October 2012. A copy of the report template is attached to the minute.

The WCED appreciates the work done by teachers and principals in administering and marking the ANA, and requests that schools analyse the ANA results and use them to strengthen teaching and learning. |
