1. In October 2010, the Western Cape Education Department conducted a Grade 9 pilot study to test the competency levels in Mathematics and Language. Individual schools will receive their results, but the results of the cohort will not be released as the Grade 9 test was a pilot study.

2. The processing of the results per school has now been completed and these results will be available on the CEMIS from 4 March 2011. Schools are encouraged to access their results as soon as possible so as to incorporate them in their plans for improvement. The school reports will reflect the overall pass rates, mean scores and an aggregation of performance per class in each of the areas tested.

3. Your school's results can be accessed on the CEMIS by using the following guidelines:

  • Select the menu item "Assessment". On the drop-down menu, select "Grade 9 LitNum Results 2010 Pilot". The results should appear on the screen.
  • Should the results not appear, go to the menu bar at the top and select "Tools". Then select "Pop-up Blocker", select "Turn-off Pop-up Blocker" and click.
  • The "Pop-up Blocker" has now been turned off and may result in the CEMIS restarting.
  • Once this has been completed, select "Grade 9" to view the results.
4. Any enquiries regarding the contents of this minute should be directed to Dr RS Cornelissen at tel. no. 021 467 2286 or e-mail address rcornelissen@pgwc.gov.za
