The PGWC will be migrating to its own virtual private network (VPN) in August 2011 so as not to have to compete nationally for resources with other government departments. |
2. |
Another benefit of the VPN, the first phase of which has been completed, is that all PGWC websites will have a dedicated space, which will contribute to faster web access. |
3. |
However, the domain will undergo a name change from wcape to pgwc. For example: cemis.wcape.gov.za will change to cemis.pgwc.gov.za and lms.wcape.gov.za will change to lms.pgwc.gov.za |
4. |
You are advised to change all favourites and desktop icons accordingly. The wcape domain is still active, but will cease to exist after 31 July 2011. |
5. |
The wced online website is provisionally exempt from this implementation as DotP (Ce-I) is still in the process of re-assessing the implications. The changing of this website to the new domain is scheduled to take place within the next six months. |
6. |
A message will be placed on the front screen of each key system, such as CEMIS, to inform all users of the above changes. |
