This minute is aimed at clarifying IQMS policy on the choosing of peers by learning support (LS) Educators. |

For the following reasons, it is imperative that LS Advisers participate as supervisors in the IQMS process applicable to LS Educators: |
| 2.1 |
The LS Adviser is the specialist in learning support for mainstream schools and has the appropriate knowledge of the functions of LS Educators.

The LS Adviser is the official immediately responsible for ensuring that the LS Educator provides a professional service to the school. |
| 2.3 |
The LS Adviser, in conjunction with the peer in the LS Educator's developmental support group (DSG), is responsible for the professional development of the LS Educator and should have a good understanding of the needs and professional training of the LS Educator. |
| 2.4 |
The LS Adviser should use the feedback from the school during the IQMS process to inform the support and development provided by the district office to the LS Educator. |

The LS Adviser serves as the supervisor in the DSG and the LS Educator chooses a peer with whom he or she works closely at either of his or her schools. This conforms to the provisions of Collective Agreement 8/2003, as the LS Adviser is the official line manager of the LS Educator and is tasked with both supervising and developing LS Educators. In many ways, this is similar to the way the principal's DSG is structured, with the IMG manager as the supervisor (even though the latter is not in daily contact with the principal) and the principal choses the peer. |

Each LS Educator must ensure that they complete their summative evaluation with the rest of the staff at their base school during the months of August to October, and that their name appears on the final QA7 summary sheet of the base school. The column headed "LS Educator" on the QA7 form must be ticked adjacent to the name of the LS Educator. QA forms 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 must be completed by each LS Educator. The completed QA forms must be filed in the educator's IQMS file. |

As LS Educators are supervised by LS Advisers at district offices, all LS Educators are required to adhere to this directive. |
