1. Approval has been granted to extend the May/June Senior Certificate examinations until 2014 (Government Gazette No. 34401, Vol. 552, dated 28 June 2011).

2. The following two categories of candidates may register for the extended Senior Certificate examination commencing in May/June 2012. In all cases proof of results of previous matric examinations written must be provided.

CATEGORY 1:

  1. Candidates who were unsuccessful in the Senior Certificate examinations of 2007 and earlier;
  2. Part-time candidates who have already enrolled for the Senior Certificate examinations;
  3. Candidates who passed Grade 11 in previous years;

CATEGORY 2:

Adult candidates who are 21 years or older and who have not registered for the Senior Certificate examinations before, may register for the examinations providing they:

  1. Undertake to complete the Senior Certificate in the next two to three years;
  2. May register in 2012 only (NOTE: These candidates have until 2014 to complete their Senior Certificate);
  3. Must be 21 years and older;
  4. Must provide a motivation to the Head of Department as to why they should be allowed to register; and
  5. Approval must be granted by the Head of Department.
3. In 2013 and 2014 only candidates who have written Senior Certificate subjects already may be entered for the examinations.

4. Candidates will be allowed to register for only those subjects that appear on the attached entry form. The closing date for submission of Senior Certificate examination entries is 30 November 2011.
