As you are aware, your school was nominated by the District as one of 258 schools to participate in the Phase 2 roll-out of the province-wide Literacy and Numeracy Intervention. |

To date, comprehensive information sessions have been conducted in all Districts (South is scheduled for Term 2) alerting District officials and School Management Teams (SMT) to the scope and benefits of the Literacy and Numeracy Intervention. |

This notice serves to inform all phase 1 schools that in depth training on Literacy and Numeracy will be conducted for all teachers teaching Numeracy/ Mathematics and Literacy/Languages from Grade 1 to 6 teachers in June/July 2011. Schools are therefore requested to provisionally reserve the dates marked for training for their particular school. See attached scheduled (Annexure A) that indicates the week in which the teachers will attend training. Training will take place over 5 days starting from 08:00 to 16:30. Venues and other logistics will be confirmed shortly and a follow up letter forwarded to all schools with these details. |

Schools are requested to provide the names of all the teachers who will attend the training as follows: |
4.1 |
schools identified as Literacy schools must list all Foundation Phase teachers (Grade 1 to 3) and all Intermediate Phase teachers who teach Languages (Grade 4 to 6) |
4.2 |
schools identified as Numeracy schools must list all Foundation Phase teachers (Grade 1 to 3) and only those Intermediate Phase teachers who teach Mathematics (Grade 4 to 6). |

Principals are further requested to complete the attached registration form (Annexure B) and return this by Thursday 21 April 2011, to the relevant district GET co-ordinator below:
