1. With reference to FET Minute: DCF 0038/2009 which was sent to all high schools offering Physical Sciences in 2009. This was followed by a notice informing of the changed date by which all schools had to complete their questionnaire and inventories online to 30 April 2010.
2. Currently, the online questionnaire and inventories of 185 high schools are blank or only partially completed. This situation is hampering the WCED's plans to purchase stock and remove chemical waste from its schools.
3. Therefore, all WCED high schools offering Physical Sciences must complete their questionnaire and inventories online by 03 May 2011. Schools that fail to do this cannot be taken into consideration for chemical waste removal and stock purchases.
4. Schools must not submit completed hard copies of their questionnaire and inventories to Head Office.
5. Curriculum advisers in the various districts have been trained to provide assistance to their schools and should be contacted if help is required.
6. The web address of the WCED online inventory is http://cemis.pgwc.gov.za to assist schools in capturing their data online, the WCED has provided a User Guide.
7. Before a school can capture its data online, it must have a completed hard copy of its inventories and questionnaire. Hard copies of the inventories, questionnaire and User Guide must be downloaded from the new WCED website at http://curriculum-dev.wcape.school.za/.

After you have opened the web site, click "Tools" at the top right area of the menu bar. Place your cursor on "Pop-up blocker" and, in the pop-up that is shown, ensure that the "Pop-up blocker" is turned off before you proceed.

Then put your cursor on "FET: Further Education and Training". Scroll down the pop- up and place your cursor on "Sciences". Scroll to the right and then down to "Physical Science". Click on "Physical Science". In the new window click on "Downloads 1", which is the last bullet on the left. In the new window, click on the folder "Circulars". In the new window, click on the item of your choice, e.g. "UserGuideEng". In the new window, click on "Downloads" at the bottom of the screen. In the new window, click again on "Downloads". In the pop-up, select "Save" and save the document to your hard drive, e.g. to your Desktop. Do not select "Open".

8. Kindly bring the contents of this minute to the attention of the teachers responsible for the Physical Sciences online inventory at your school.
