The Letterkundeondersteuningkomitee (LOK) extends an invitation to all teachers of Afrikaans for Grade 12 to the 2011 Symposium to be held on Saturday, 19 February 2011 from 08:30 to 15:30 at the University of the Western Cape. |

The main aim of the symposium is to support the teaching of literature, but there will also be a focus on other disciplines, such as writing and grammar. One of the special features of the 2011 symposium will be the presentation on the teaching of Afrikaans First Additional Language by Mrs Martie Venter, experienced external moderator of Second Language papers. |

The registration fee for the 2011 Symposium is R100,00 per person. Interested persons may deposit this amount in the ABSA bank account of the Stigting vir Bemagtiging deur Afrikaans (SBA) (account number 550 145 847, branch code 632 005). Please use the abbreviation "LOK" and the name of the school concerned as a reference when making the deposit, e.g LOK EERSTE RIVER SECONDARY. The SBA will be responsible for administrative and logistical arrangements for the LOK Symposium. |

Symposium participants must complete the enclosed registration form (Addendum A) and fax it, together with proof of payment of the registration fee, to Ms Christine Francke of the SBA at fax number 021 446 1012 by 28 January 2011. (The SBA's telephone number is 021 446 1376). Registration may also be done online at web address www.afrikaans.com. |

To assist the organisers of the LOK Symposium, teachers are requested to adhere to the above due date for registration. No late applications will be accepted. |

Kindly note that no LOK study guides will be available in 2011. Each participant will, however, receive a subsidised R50 voucher towards the purchase of any one of the Vlymskerp guides. Each Vlymskerp guide costs R100. |
