The national Department of Basic Education (DBE) has not prescribed new literary works for all official languages at Home, First and Second Additional Level for the interim period of 2012 to 2013. The status quo remains for this interim period. |

Please refer to WCED Circular Minute 0049/2008, dated 8 December 2008, which provides the prescribed novels, plays, short story and poetry anthologies for Home, First and Second Additional Languages for November 2009 to March 2012. It must be noted that the DBE has extended the period of prescription for this list to cover the interim period of 2012 to 2013. |

You are also referred to WCED Curriculum FET Minute: DCF 0010/2010, dated 19 October 2010, which provides the prescribed lists of poems (Home and First Additional Language) and short stories (First and Second Additional Language) for 2011 to 2012. The National Senior Certificate Examinations for the interim period of 2012 to 2013 will be based on the same selection of poems (Home and First Additional Language) and short stories (First and Second Additional Language). |
