1. The Western Cape Education Department thanks all schools and district offices for the tremendous effort that was displayed in administering the Annual National Assessments (ANA). The level of commitment enabled the ANA to be written in 99% of the schools in the Western Cape, which is much appreciated.
2. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has indicated that learners who did not write the ANA, including learners with special needs, must write before 4 March 2011. Adapted papers for learners with special needs will be provided by the Department of Basic Education.
3. Please capture all marks on the CEMIS before 4 March 2011. Only the total mark per learning area will be required for each learner. The learner register (including the mark sheet) can be found by clicking on "Annual Assessment", under the heading "Assessments".
4. Schools are required to provide parents with reports on the performance of their children in the ANA by 4 March 2011. The reports can be printed per class from the CEMIS.
5. District offices must collect the required samples of scripts from the schools selected by the DBE by 24 February 2011, so that these are ready for collection at the district offices on 25 February 2011.
