1. Women's Day, which will be celebrated on 9 August 2008, is a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the rights, achievements and freedom of women.
2. The Department of Public Service and Administration encourages departments to not only celebrate Women's Day, but also to celebrate Women's Month in August. As part of the Women's Month programme of the Western Cape Education Department, the Directorate: Internal Human Capital Management has selected 3 issues that will be workshopped during the month to assist in the upskilling and empowerment of women. This will be done at two one-day capacity-building workshops on 24 and 25 August 2010 at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute, Nooiensfontein Road, Kuils River. Each workshop will focus on the following:

  1. Basic curriculum vitae writing
  2. Interview skills
  3. Empowerment of women
3. Please note that this invitation to these capacity-building workshops is extended to female employees only. Directors are kindly requested to nominate at least two employees to attend a one-day workshop on either 24 or 25 August. Nominees' names are to be provided to Mymona Jacobs by 10 August 2010 at tel. no. 021 467 2437 or e-mailed to her at myjacobs@pgwc.gov.za
4. As part of our Women's Month celebration, the Directorate: Internal Human Capital Management we will also be running a massive donations drive during the month of August. We appeal to everyone to donate non-perishable goods or clothing that will be distributed to a chosen organisation. The items can be brought to Room 318 on the 3rd Floor of Grand Central Building by 30 August 2010.
