The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) invites all school principals to participate in the above-mentioned principals' conference either as presenters or participants. |
2. |
Purpose
The purpose of this conference is to share ideas, best practice and experience concerning the management and leadership of an achieving school.

3. |
Information for Presenters |
3.1 |
Presenters who are interested in presenting a paper or a "best practice" workshop at the conference should be guided by the following:
- Conference participants should be involved in the workshop.
- Duration: 60 minutes. Allow 5 - 10 minutes for group discussion or questions.
- Venues will have portable tables and chairs, a data projector, an overhead projector and a whiteboard.
- All printed material should be typed and printed on a laser printer, if possible. The WCED will duplicate the material.
- An information session for all presenters will take place on Thursday, 10 June 2010.

If you are interested in presenting an item at the conference, please complete the attached Annexure A and return it to Mr A. Lamprecht at fax number 021 900 5013 / 5175 or e-mail address alamprec@pgwc.gov.za by 28 May 2010. |

Information for Participants |
4.1 |
Principals not wishing to share best practice from their schools, but who would like to attend the conference, are requested to complete Annexure B. |
4.2 |
The completed Annexure B must be returned to Mr A. Lamprecht at e-mail address alamprec@pgwc.gov.za or fax no. 021 900 5013 / 5175 by 30 July 2010. |
4.3 |
Registration will close once the first 300 participants are registered. |
4.4 |
The conference programme will include plenary discussions and parallel sessions. Principals registered for the conference will receive details of the conference programme by 31 August 2010. |

Logistics Participants or presenters from the rural education districts travelling further than 120 km per return trip may stay overnight in the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute's hostel on the nights of Wednesday, 29 September and Thursday, 30 September 2010. Accommodation will be paid for by the WCED. Travelling costs will not be covered by the WCED.
