| NEW FORMAT OF THE NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC) EXAMINATION PAPERS IN LIFE SCIENCES FROM 2011 |

You are referred to Circular 0005/2008, dated 13 December 2008, which outlines the new subject content for Life Sciences, as listed in the National Curriculum Statement Grades 10 - 12 (General). |

In 2011, this new content for Life Sciences will be introduced in Grade 12. Hence the need to amend the format of the examination papers and the national examination guidelines from 2011. In this regard we attach the following information from the national Department of Basic Education:

Curriculum advisers in the districts will discuss the new content with schools during the course of 2011 in order to support its introduction into the subject. |

Principals are kindly requested to bring this minute to the attention of the subject head and teachers of Life Sciences. |
