1. The Directorate: Quality Assurance wishes to thank those schools that adhered to the due dates for the submission of the School Improvement Plans (SIPs).
2. Principals are reminded that the SIPs are fundamentally about the improvement of learner performance; and therefore should focus on addressing the actual needs of the school, including educator developmental needs.
3. The moderation process, which takes place after the submission of the SIPs, should be in the final stages of completion. Schools will be receiving feedback about the quality of the SIPs through the education district offices, which will be using the SIPs to formulate their Circuit Improvement Plans (CIPs) and the District Improvement Plans (DIPs).
4. School principals are reminded that a report on the progress on the implementation of all development programmes on the SIPs has to be handed in by 19 June 2009. In this regard, principals are required to note the following:
4.1 Principals must drive all the processes to address the needs of their schools, as well as the Performance Measurement processes aligned with the SIPs.
4.2 Documented evidence is imperative to track the performance of all educators.
4.3 The training of all new entrants and first time implementers must be undertaken by the School Development Team and departmental service providers.
4.4 Principals should also ensure that Performance Measurement is embedded in the normal operations of school life - it is about planning and implementing strategies to improve learner achievement on an ongoing basis.
5. Please note the IQMS calendar, which has been sent to all schools. Each educator should have received one.
