The functions of the Directorate: Policy Co-ordination are as follows:
- Initiate and evaluate requests for policy development;
- Facilitate policy alignment;
- Manage the Policy Register;
- Facilitate the policy communication process;
- Provide expert advice and support on policy development;
- Facilitate the legislative process.

As the facilitator of the policy communication process in the WCED, the Directorate: Policy Co-ordination is pleased to announce that we now have a policy co-ordination website at http://wcedpolicy.pgwc.gov.za.

The website is aimed at assisting with the communication of education policy in the Western Cape Province.

To assist in building policy networks and relationships at all levels, this website will provide access to the Policy Register of the WCED, where users can search for the policies and procedures per directorate or per specific year. There is also a resource page, which allows access to judgments in education law delivered by South African Courts, national and provincial Acts related to education, education White Papers, and provincial education policies on a variety of matters. Events planned by this directorate will be diarized on the website for your convenience.
