1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) aims to create a disability-friendly environment for its employees, including employees with a disability, by raising awareness on disability.
2. On 29 May 2009, LOFOB (The League of Friends of the Blind) will be commemorating 'Blind Buddy Day'. 'Blind Buddy Day', which takes place every year in May, is aimed at celebrating the achievements of blind people and encouraging the integration of blind people into all aspects of society.
3. Companies and organisations are asked to involve themselves in various activities to raise awareness of blindness and the aims of this day.
4. The WCED encourages you to participate in this day by buying a 'LOFOB Blind Buddy Day' sticker for R10 and wearing it on 29 May 2009. You can also express solidarity with blind people by wearing dark sunglasses on the day.
5. Stickers can be purchased from Gail McConney, 021 467 2091, in the Switchboard room, Second floor, Grand Central Towers or directly from LOFOB, 021 705 3753.
