1. Human Rights Day is celebrated in South Africa each year on the 21st of March. It is a day on which all South Africans should celebrate and be reminded of the basic human rights we all have.
2. It is important for everyone to know what these human rights are so that we can protect our rights from being violated. The Bill of Rights, in Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, lists these rights.
3. On Human Rights Day 2009, the WCED would like to focus on the right to "Human dignity".
