1. The Employee Health and Wellness Programme (EHWP) of the WCED is celebrating its fifth year of providing support and guidance to employees who experience difficulties with life's challenges. This programme provides guidance on a host of matters, amongst others stress counselling, financial guidance, relationship issues, substance abuse, health and HIV and AIDS issues, bereavement and trauma counselling.
2. Services are provided to both employees and managers, focusing on various interventions.
3. Support and guidance are provided by an independent service provider, who offers multilingual access by means of telephone and face-to-face counselling and trauma debriefing. This confidential service support is rendered by qualified and experienced psychologists and clinical social workers who are available for 24 hours a day.
4. It has, however, come to our attention that there are still some employees and managers who are not aware of this free service provided to them by the WCED. Attached to this minute is a poster advocating the service. It would be appreciated if managers could display the poster where it will be visible to all employees.
5. Should there be a need for an awareness session (Duration: 45 minutes) to be held at your institution or office, please contact Nokwanda Zamxaka at 021 467 2571 in order to make the necessary arrangements.
