1. The attached claim form (Addendum A) must be completed in black ink by the chief invigilator for him- or herself and for each assistant invigilator invigilating at a particular examination centre. The number of sessions must be confirmed by the principal or centre manager, who must countersign the claim form.
2. The Department must be notified in writing of any change in an invigilator's address that occurred after submitting the nomination form.

Chief invigilator         R114.65 per session
Assistant invigilator    R 76,45 per session

You are reminded that independent schools and colleges are responsible for the remuneration of their invigilators

3. Prisons using invigilators other than their own staff are requested to inform the Department in writing of such arrangements.
4. Invigilators will be remunerated at the following Departmental tariffs (subject to change):
5. When remunerating invigilators, examination sessions before twelve noon will be regarded as morning sessions. Examination sessions commencing after twelve noon are regarded as afternoon sessions.
6. Claims received for replacement invigilators will be processed only if the correct nomination and appointment procedure has been followed.
7. Please ensure that only the prescribed number of assistant invigilators per session are used. An explanatory letter must accompany a claim for additional invigilators.
8. The majority of principals have already agreed that the Department may pay the invigilators' fees into their schools' bank accounts. As the National Senior Certificate Examinations end on 4 December 2009, it will not be possible for the Department to transfer all the fees into the bank accounts before schools close on 11 December 2009. The funds will, however, be available on 10 and 18 December 2009, with a final date of 7 January 2010. In order to process the invigilators' claims timeously, you are requested to ensure that claim forms reach the Department by 4 December 2009. Claims received after this date will be paid in January 2010.
9. The claim form provides columns for chief invigilators who attended the compulsory training sessions. Claimants must indicate the distance they travelled, and whether from within a radius of 75 km or from beyond that radius. They may claim for only one training session if travelling from within a radius of 75 km, or for two sessions if travelling from beyond that radius.
10. Chief invigilators who assisted with the receiving and checking of question papers must indicate their claim for this service in the appropriate column on the claim form. They may claim remuneration for only one further session if they provided assistance with the checking of the 5 consignments of question papers.
11. In order to assist with the prompt payment of invigilators' claims, the completed form may be faxed to this office, using fax number 021 461 5637 or 086 692 2242. If you choose to fax the claim, then the original completed claim form must be posted to the Department. The chief invigilator must keep a copy of the completed claim form for record purposes.
12. Immediately after the final examination session at your centre, the original copy of the completed claim forms must be sent in the quickest possible way, whether by post, courier service or hand, to one of the following addresses:
