1. It is the responsibility of each school to plan its school programme for the period during and after the assessment and/or examination until the last school day for learners on 5 December 2008 so that the learners are engaged constructively. It is important therefore that all schools adhere to the following:
1.1 School days during the end-of-year assessment and/or examination period should not end earlier than 13:00 for learners. Learners involved in the national Grade 9 CTA process should be engaged with continued instructional support, learner review and reflection after the end of the national task.
1.2 Schools should ensure that all learners attend school on all days, irrespective of whether or not they are involved in assessment or writing examinations.
1.3 Schools should plan their internal assessment and/or examinations in such a way that all learners involved finish at 13:00 at the earliest.
2. It is expected that all teachers will attend the full school day every day during this period, irrespective of whether or not they have invigilation duties.
3. Learner profiles and portfolios must be available for moderation and progression, as per the dates determined for the districts.
4. All schools are requested to submit their assessment and/or examination programmes to their circuit team managers on or before 7 November 2008.
