1. You are referred to Budget Management Minute 0004/2004 where public schools and community learning centres were requested to complete and submit a survey form similar to the one attached hereto.
2. In order to update our management information systems and to ensure proper control and administration within the Western Cape Education Department, the current list of auditors is being audited. Principals are therefore requested to complete the attached survey form and to submit it no later than 31 July 2008 to

3. Every education institution must determine whether its auditor is registered with one of the professional bodies indicated on the survey form and whose members are deemed to be registered auditors in terms of the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act 84 of 1996) as amended (SASA) and the Adult Basic Education and Training Act, 2000 (Act 52 of 2000).
4. Institutions using registered auditors (in terms of Sections 43(1) and 43(2)(a) of the SASA) must complete only section A of the form.
5. Institutions using non-registered auditors, i.e. institutions using persons in terms of Section 43(2)(b) who are not registered with one of the professional bodies referred to in paragraph 3, must complete only section B of the form. Please note that these non-registered auditors must formally apply for approval to audit the financial records of schools. Schools that have not yet received such approval, must immediately apply via their education district offices.
