1. As part of the development of our vision of "A Home for All”, the Department of the Premier (Directorate: Diagnostic Surveys) is conducting research into race and prejudice within the PGWC, from February to June 2008. The aims of the survey are to explore racism and prejudice within the PGWC, and to understand who is experiencing this and how it is impacting on our performance. The summary results will be communicated to you by September 2008 and will be used to develop recommendations on how we go forward.
2. External consultants, Telos Partners SA, will conduct the survey and will use focus groups. This will ensure confidentiality, impartiality and credibility.
3. A 3% sample group of staff has been selected from the WCED to be invited to be part of the focus groups. This sample group is representative of the race, gender and job grades composition of the WCED. The persons in the focus groups will be requested to complete a questionnaire and attend a dialogue session. All information and opinion collected will remain anonymous.
4. We encourage you to attend if you are selected and, if not selected, we ask that you support those staff who are selected.
5. If you have any questions about this research project, please contact the project manager, Louise Esterhuyse at lsesterh@pgwc.gov.za or tel. no. 021 466 9500, or Cindylou Davids at cidavids@pgwc.gov.za or tel. no. 021 466 9500.
