The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) acknowledges that the Redesign process has been a period of distress for many of its employees, creating, in some instances, uncertainty and anxiety.

The WCED has therefore arranged organisational support group interventions for all office-based employees to help them cope with and adjust to their circumstances which have changed as a result of the Redesign.

The group interventions aim to encourage employees to identify, understand and express their own concerns about the changes and to build resilience in order to manage the changes that may take place. The intervention will consist of a one-hour discussion, after which one-on-one onsite debriefing sessions will be available on a voluntary basis.

The support group interventions are compulsory for all office-based employees and it is the responsibility of each director to ensure that the employees in their directorates attend the groups at the dates and times indicated.

Directors are requested to submit the names of the employees who will be attending the group sessions by Thursday, 31 January 2008.
