1. The HIV & AIDS Life Skills and School Sport component of the WCED's Directorate: Curriculum FET, in collaboration with loveLife and the Department of Culture, Arts and Sport (DCAS), will be hosting the 2008 Circuit-based Lifestyle Festival (also known as the Municipal loveLife Games) on Saturday, 9 August 2008 (National Women's Day), as well as the 2008 District-based Lifestyle Festival (also known as the District loveLife Games) on Wednesday, 24 September 2008 (Heritage Day).

2. loveLife uses a number of strategies in its HIV & AIDS prevention campaign. One of these, the loveLife Games, uses activities such as sport, the arts, debating, creative writing and creative problem-solving to:
  • act as a catalyst for teachers to become change agents who will effect noticeable community mobilisation with regard to HIV & AIDS messaging, de-stigmatisation and the teaching of life skills; and
  • create access and opportunity for learners to be exposed to various forms of recreational activities, yet receive vitally important HIV & AIDS-based information in various forms, e.g. subliminally.
3. It has been agreed that the loveLife Games will, for collaboration purposes, be called the Lifestyle Festival. The festival will function under the auspices of each of the education district offices and will be administered by the following persons in each district:
  • The HIV & AIDS life skills co-ordinator or fieldworker
  • The HIV & AIDS life skills lead teacher
  • The DCAS sport promotion officer
  • The loveLife games co-ordinator
