The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has developed a guide to assist Grade 9 learners to make subject choices for Grade 10.

The guide will provide Grade 9 learners with information regarding various careers and seeks to support young people in making decisions about study opportunities beyond Grade 12.

The information in the booklet relates to the requirements for Orientation to the World of Work, which is Learning Outcome 5, in the NCS Life Orientation in the GET Band, and Learning Outcome 4, Careers and Career Choices, in the subject Life Orientation in the FET Band.

Every high school will receive 150 copies of the booklet, which should be distributed among Grade 9 learners.

The booklet will be delivered to the district offices from 1 March 2008 and should be collected from the Life Orientation Curriculum Adviser.

Principals are requested to bring the contents of this minute to the attention of the Life Orientation teachers.
