The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is developing an online inventory for Physical Sciences from which it can obtain data to inform its goals for its schools offering Physical Sciences. To this end, all WCED schools offering Physical Sciences will keep an inventory of their stock and update it online on a regular basis.

In Curriculum Development Minute 0078/2007, the WCED requested that schools declare the functionality of their science laboratories by completing a questionnaire and a Physical Sciences inventory. The closing date for submission was 1 November 2007.

The WCED would like to express its appreciation to those schools that responded by the closing date.

Some of the responses could, unfortunately, not be accepted for the following reasons:

Only a completed questionnaire was submitted
|
| 4.2 |
Only a completed Physical Science inventory was submitted
|
| 4.3 |
Stock on hand was indicated only by ticks (v) or dashes (-)
|

An example of how the questionnaire and inventory should be completed can be viewed at: http://curriculum.pgwc.gov.za/site/52/page/view . An electronic copy of Curriculum Development Minute 0078/2007 can also be obtained from this web page together with a list of schools whose questionnaires and inventories were accepted. Schools whose completed questionnaires and/or inventories were not accepted are requested to improve them and re-submit them.

All schools that have not yet responded are urgently requested to submit hard copies of their completed questionnaires and inventories to the WCED before 25 February 2008. The completed questionnaires and inventories must be sent to:

It is re-emphasised that the WCED only requires hard copies of each school's completed questionnaire and Physical Sciences inventory. These must be completed accurately.
