The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is undertaking a special project to supply the software (ArcView 3.3) for the teaching of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to all schools in the WCED that offer Geography as a subject in Grades 10, 11 and 12. |

The software will be installed during the period 6 October 2008 until 15 February 2009.

GIMS, the service provider, will also be providing training for teachers in the use of the software, with a two-day training session to be organised per education district on the following dates:

Two FET Geography educators per school will be trained. Teachers are urged to attend these training sessions. A curriculum development minute will be sent to schools shortly containing details of the venues and times for the training sessions. |
