Curriculum FET Minute DCF 0018/2008 of 4 June 2008 provided schools with the latest catalogue of nationally approved textbooks for Grades 10 -12 in 2009.

As stated in Curriculum FET Minute DCF 0026/2008, all the Grade 10 textbooks on the catalogue have been revised and aligned with the latest Subject Assessment Guidelines (SAGs) and Learning Programme Guidelines (LAGs).

TIn view of changes to the Grade 10 curriculum, the national Department of Education has advised that schools should order Grade 10 textbooks for 2009 from the new catalogue and in Curriculum FET Minute DCF 0026/2008, schools were instructed to place requisitions for two textbooks for their Grade 10 learners. One of the two was to be for Life Sciences.

In addition to the two textbooks mentioned above, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is undertaking to supply a further 5 textbooks per Grade 10 learner, so that each learner will have a textbook from the catalogue for each of their other subjects. The catalogue of approved textbooks for all Grade 10 - 12 subjects in 2009 is again attached for reference.

Schools should base their order on the current Gr 10 enrolment and subject split. They should order one teachers' guide for every 35 textbooks ordered.

Requisition forms must be signed by the principal and the chairperson of the books subcommittee and stamped with the official school stamp. Requisition forms must be submitted by hand or post by no later than Thursday, 25 September 2008, to the address below:
