In January 2008, the national Department of Education distributed copies of a Life Orientation Grade 11 teacher's guide and learner's workbook in English only to all high schools in the Western Cape Province.

These books provide a number of lesson plans and suitable activities related to the Life Orientation curriculum for Grade 11.

These books are provided as additional resource material, as Life Orientation is a new subject in the FET band. The books should be used in conjunction with other resource material, and are not compulsory textbooks.

The Western Cape Education Department has now had the books translated into Afrikaans. Every high school in the province will receive one Afrikaans copy of both the teacher's guide and the learner's workbook.

The books will be posted to every high school from 1 September 2008 onwards.

Principals are requested to bring this minute to the attention of Grade 11 Life Orientation teachers.
