1. The national Department of Education and the nine provincial education departments will be organising the South African Schools' Choral Eisteddfod for primary and secondary schools in 2008.
2. The eisteddfod makes provision for soloists, ensembles and school choirs in the following sections:

(a) Foundation Phase
(b) Intermediate Phase
(c) Senior Phase
(d) Further Education and Training Band

3. In light of the cancellation of the eisteddfod in 2007, the Department of Education has decided that the prescribed music of 2007 will be used for this year. Choirs that do not wish to participate in the categories for prescribed music may offer songs of their choice.
4. In preparation to the eisteddfod choral conducting workshops will be held for conductors on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings during February and March at the following venues:

5. All choir directors are invited to attend the workshops that will be presented by experienced choral conductors.
6. Teachers are requested to bring the copies of the prescribed music for 2008 to the workshops.
