Curriculum FET Minutes DCF/0007/2008 and DCF/0018/2008 provided schools with the latest catalogue of nationally approved textbooks for Grade 10 in 2009.

All the Grade 10 textbooks on the above-mentioned catalogue have been revised and aligned with the latest Subject Assessment Guidelines (SAGs) and Learning Programme Guidelines (LAGs).

The National Department of Education has provided a new content framework for Life Sciences that should be implemented in Grade 10 in 2009 (refer to Circular 0005/2008).

In view of these changes to the Grade 10 curriculum, the National Department of Education has advised that schools should order Grade 10 textbooks for 2009 from the new catalogue.

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is undertaking to supply a textbook per Grade 10 learner for each of the following:

one of the following subjects:
Life Orientation or Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy or Physical Sciences

Principals will be notified of their school's budget allocation and the requisition process for this project in a letter with the subject line: ALLOCATION TO SUPPLEMENT THE PURCHASE OF TEXTBOOKS FOR GRADE 10. This letter will be sent electronically and by post.

Requisition forms must be signed by the principal and the chairperson of the books subcommittee and stamped with the official school stamp. Requisition forms must be submitted by hand or post by Friday, 8 August 2008, to the address below:
