The Western Cape Education Department's HIV/AIDS Unit wishes to bring it to the attention of all educators, parents and learners that the HIV/AIDS Life Skills material supplied to schools annually, will once again be made available to schools for 2008.

During the course of September to November 2007, the HIV/AIDS Life Skills material consisting of Educator Guides, Resource Guides and learner workbooks, still available in storage, will be delivered to the WCED Quintile 1, 2 and 3 schools, LSEN schools and FET colleges.

The following additional materials have been included for the Quintile 1, 2 and 3 schools:

Stronger than the Storm - Books for learners
|
| 3.2 |
Stronger than the Storm - Educator Guide
It is advised that these books be used by Gr 8 and 9 learners in the Language learning area. For any further assistance kindly refer to the curriculum advisers at the EMDC.

Biology Kit - It is advised that this kit be used for the Gr 8 and 9 learners in the Natural Sciences learning area.

The HIV/AIDS Unit wishes to inform all heads of educational institutions that, with effect from 2008, hard copy material will only be provided to Quintile 1, 2 and 3 schools. All other schools will be provided with CD copies of the material allowing educators to download only the material they require. The delivery of this material will commence in the fourth term of 2007.

The HIV/AIDS Unit aims to have all the HIV/AIDS materials available on the WCED Curriculum website in 2008, thereby ensuring that the material is accessible to all schools. Further notification will follow once the material is accessible on the website.
