Quality in Education Conference
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Provincial Conference on Quality in Education. (Refer to Quality Assurance Minute 003/2007)
The date of the conference has been revised and the conference will be held on 24 and 25 August 2007.

| 1.1 |
The conference venue is the College of Cape Town, Crawford Campus, Kromboom Road, Crawford. The principal venue will be the Main Hall.

Registration will take place on Friday, 24 August 2007, at 9.00 and proceedings for the day will end at 19.00. On Saturday, 25 August 2007, the sessions will run from 8.30 to 15.30.

WCED officials, school managers and national and international experts on Quality in Education will provide the conference programme.
|
| 1.4 |
The conference will initiate discussions amongst delegates on Quality in Education and it will emphasise the importance of accountability in order to improve quality in the system.

The plenaries and breakaway sessions will provide a platform for generating ideas on improving quality management in the education system.
|
| 2.1 |
There will be no fee attached to attending the conference.
|
| 2.2 |
Travel sponsorship is available to those delegates who will travel further than 100 km to the venue (i.e. a round trip of 200 km).

| 2.3 |
The Directorate: Quality Assurance will assist delegates who will require accommodation for the duration of the conference by identifying possible accommodation sites. Accommodation costs will be for the delegate's own account.

We are keen to have delegates from all EMDCs. Therefore it is important that interested delegates register provisionally by 15 June 2007. (See attachment)

| 3.2 |
It is anticipated that more delegates that can be accommodated will apply, so interested persons are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

| 3.3 |
Confirmation will be sent to applicants by 17 July 2007. The final programme and list of presenters will accompany the confirmation.
